TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

The train is a four car model of the Midland Blue Pullman British Railways class 251. With a Power Car and three trailing cars (one being a Dummy End)

This train is made out of sheet steel, and the two ends are also sheet steel which was shaped, moulded and then welded to the main body.

Under construction

This picture is of the Power Car, during its construction. It was taken at the Mardyke Works in Rainham, Essex. Here you can see how the train has a seperate mould for the cab ends, which has then been welded on to the main body frame.

Power Car:  The Power Car is the heart of the train. The front boogie holds the 6.5hp Briggs and Stratton Petrol engine, and the Hydrolic pump for the drive. The Engine powers the hydrolic pump and this is controlled from the 'power handle' given great speed control. This also acts as the brake for the train when put into reverse. The Power Car has a forward and reverse driving position for ease, and has a seat positioned behind the driver for either driver training or for passengers.

Kitchen Car:  The Kitchen Car is one of the trailing cars, again made of sheet metal construction. It has four passenger seats and to make it easy to notice, the windows on the side are different from the parlour car.

Parlour Car:  The Palour Car is again on of the trailing cars, again of sheet metal construction. It has four passenger seats.

Dummy End: The Dummy end is identical to the Power Car. The difference obviously being that this does not have an engine and instead has an extra seat to convet four passengers like the other trailing cars. The Carriage of of sheet metal construction, but has the end molded and welded to the main body.

All four coaches of this D.M.U are painted in a powder paint mix given it a strong, durable and clean apperance.
